Our work
Nerve
Lionsgate
Working closely with Lionsgate Entertainment and SilVR Thread, we created a companion mobile app to their upcoming blockbuster, NERVE. The app featured information about the film, a gallery of video dares, and even lets you experience the dares from the film in first-person Virtual Reality with your iOS or Android device and Google Cardboard, or even with a GearVR headset!
A game like truth or dare, without the truth.
Do you dare?
Choose “PLAYER” to put yourself inside VR depictions of the crazy dares from the film, or choose “WATCHER” to see what other Players from around the world have already dared to do… More experiences for watchers and players are being added all the time, so keep checking back for new stuff.
The Rift
Philanthrokidz
At Relish, we love innovative ideas, so when Philanthrokidz approached us with their idea for the Rift, an online community with the goal of empowering tweens to transform virtual world fun into real world change, we jumped at the chance.
Involved in the project at a very early stage, we helped define the brand, user experience, and look and feel while also consulting on the technical execution.
While we don’t want to be an educational site for kids we do think there are some important things that can be learned though this project around financial literacy, global issues, geography and languages.
Tina Venema, Founder, Philanthrokidz
Weirdwood Manor
Wasabi Entertainment
The Incredible Tales of Weirdwood Manor is a unique interactive storytelling experience, written and developed by our sister company, Wasabi — a team of writers, game designers, and developers with a shared passion for great stories.
If your kids are Harry Potter and The Golden Compass fans, they are going to love this app!
Tech With Kids
A living novel
At its heart, Weirdwood is about story. It’s a novel, and is meant to be read. The artwork, puzzles, and subtle animations help bring that story to life, but are ultimately there to enhance what is being read, not to distract from it. It’s an experience unlike anything else we’ve seen out there. A novel – not a “storybook” – but still, much more alive than your traditional paperback. We call it a “Living Novel”. It seemed the best way to describe this new approach to storytelling!
We hope our stories and tools inspire kids to explore their imagination and write their own stories.
Cache Craze
YTV
One of the most played games on YTV.com in support of YTV’s treasure hunting reality show, Cache Craze. Relish worked with 9 Story Entertainment to create a companion game based on the show that would allow viewers to experience some of the fun.
So yah, can you just make all of our games forever?
Producer, YTV
Geocaches, Amazeballs, and challenges… oh my!
The game features several fun and challenging activities wrapped up into one exciting online adventure. Players navigate a virtual map with challenging terrain running to reach unlocked checkpoints. Each checkpoint features a mini game challenge — based on the challenges seen in the show — that players need to overcome in the hopes of finding a geocache. Players collect all 4 caches and use them to solve the final challenge to win the Amazeball trophy and weekly digital prizes!
Since its initial release in March of 2013, Cache Craze received an upgrade to support the second season and has steadily held the #2 spot on YTV.com, bested only by Knickknack — another Relish project.
Raceview
Nascar
Nascar wanted to bring the race to their most passionate of fans, no matter where they were, or when they were watching. Working closely with our longtime, San Francisco-based partner, Tractor — and sports entertainment innovators, Sportvision — we developed an Adobe Max award-winning online experience where fans could follow their favourite drivers to watch their every move recreated in full 3d, available online, and anytime.
With Raceview, fans could follow their favourite drivers to watch their every move in flyover 3d.
Better than the real thing
Built with Flash and Unity, Nascar fans could watch a 3d recreation of the current race from any location. Leveraging Sportvision’s pioneering telemetry tracking, even the smallest details of the race from in-car radio to weekly car decals and even driver gas and brake usage was tracked. And with a mere 7s delay, it’s just like being there — minus the deafening sound!
Malibu Beach Club
Pernot Ricard
Beverage giant, Pernod Ricard was looking to address a problem they have every year with one of its premium brands, Malibu Rum: keep interest and excitement from fading over the dreary winter months.
From story and game conception to design to development, we crafted an experience that was fun, addictive, and seamlessly integrated the brand.
“Sim City on a beach”
Given the direction of “Sim City on a beach”, we created Beach Club — a simulation strategy game where the goal is to become the Ultimate Beach Manager. To become the Ultimate Beach Manager, the player is tasked with building an activity-filled beach where NPCs (Non-Player Characters) can frequent and enjoy.
From story and game conception to design to development, we crafted an experience that was fun, addictive, and helped promote Malibu Rum recipes and brand recognition in a way that subtle and seamless.
Malibu stakeholders were given access to a custom admin tool that allowed them to view realtime stats on registered users, returning users, user level progress, average and total play time as well as players currently ‘on the beach’ (actively playing).
Clothesline App
The Canadian Diabetes Association
Working closely with Argyle PR and The Canadian Diabetes Association, we created The Clothesline™ App to make giving your gently used clothes even easier. Simply pack up your gently used clothes in a bag, use the app to find a shiny red drop box near you, use the app’s driving directions to get yourself to the box, and drop off your clothes.
Track your clothing drop offs, see where you rank in Canada, and earn badges to fund important Diabetes research.
Celebrating 30 years of generosity
The app lets you track your total drop-offs so you can see where you rank in your city, your province, or even nation-wide. Donations earn you badges as you go, motivating you to hit charitable milestones and collect each one. For over 30 years every pound of clothing donated funds necessary research and improves the quality of life for 10 million (1 in 4) Canadians affected by diabetes and prediabetes.
The app is available for both iPhone and Android.
Knickknack
YTV
To help support the launch of Some Assembly Required — a new children’s TV show on YTV — Relish worked with Thunderbird to conceive, design, and build a fun and casual game. Knickknack is a physics-based puzzle game that challenges players to help keep the Knickknack Toy Factory operating smoothly by successfully completing 40+ challenges like negotiating crates to their delivery platform and even assembling robots. Along the way they’ll encounter levers, pulleys, springs, batteries, and bombs!
Knickknack carefully leverages the tone and personality of the show… without revealing any spoilers!
Welcome to the toy factory
The game carefully leveraged the tone and personality of the show, staying true to the concept while creating a standalone story of its own…and not revealing any spoilers! Knickknack is playable online at YTV.com as well as available for phone and tablet in the Apple App and Google Play stores.
Shortly after its initial launch, the web version of Knickknack began shattering records for game plays, page views, etc. ultimately overtaking another Relish project, Cache Craze, for top spot as the most popular game on YTV.com!
Listable
A complete marketing solution for real estate agents to promote themselves and their listings.
Take a tourListable
Founding partner
In most big cities, the real estate market is somewhat of a force of nature. It’s fierce, competitive, and realtors have to work hard to distinguish themselves from their peers. At the same time, there’s lots of technology available to realtors to augment their job, but the landscape is fragmented and the quality varies wildly.
Listable is a breath of fresh air! I love how everything works so seamlessly and makes me look like a pro. Love it.
Sarah Booth, Realtor
Real estate marketing done right.
To solve this problem, we built Listable as an end-to-end real estate marketing solution. Listable allows agents to build beautiful, detailed, listings for their properties that go well beyond telling buyers the square footage and expected annual property taxes. Listable listings tell you what’s great about the property, the neighbourhood, and the community.
In addition, Listable gives agents a personal website and an iPad app to use at open houses. It’s all focused on helping home buyers, because that’s what good realtors do.
RollBots
YTV
Let’s get ready to roll!
RollBots Online is the companion site to an exciting YTV animated series. The site allows kids to explore the Flip City Police Headquarters in 3D. Inside HQ are various computers that allow them to create their very own ‘RollBot’, take on important missions and find exclusive show content.
The RollBot mods give you extra speed, strength or defense and affect how you do in the games. You may get an extra life to start the game or you might be able to run faster. It all depends on the mission.
Feature-packed
Each week, kids compete in missions (games) to earn points and FlipChips (the currency of Flip City) they can use to buy mods for their custom RollBots. After week 16 of the show, the leaderboard’s top user will have their custom RollBot appear in the final episode of the show.
In addition to designing and building the main site shell and 13 original games, Relish also created a custom avatar creator where users could create their own RollBot character from approximately 200,000 possible options, an FCPD database containing exclusive content, secret missions, and character information, as well as video mashup tool.
To keep users engaged, new content (in the form of missions, character bios, avatar parts, etc.) was released every week and a new game released approximately every 2 weeks.
Newsana
Newsana is an online community of experts and thought leaders who share, discuss, and work together to choose the five most essential news stories and ideas of the day on the topics of their expertise.
An invitation-only website, Newsana is aimed at elevating the quality of disource surrounding current events and help drive meaningful, focused discussions… cutting through the noise of online news.
Informed, clever and genuine news junkies who are dedicated to sharing information and shaping the ultimate online news experience.
A partner from Day 1
When Newsana’s two founders sought out development options for realizing their vision, they chose Relish not only as a vendor but as their partner. Our extensive experience in application development and commitment to user experience was the perfect combination to help get an ambitious idea off the ground.
Together, we designed and developed an MVP — for a closed beta group of 1,000 — allowing us to collect and analyze real user data. The data collected allowed us to validate our assumptions, test features, and make necessary pivots before releasing a fully public release that was equipped to give our intended audience the best possible experience.
Swaplockers
Founding partner
Two dynamic entrepreneurs had a vision of a site where you can get actual value for the things you have by trading them for things you want. The big idea — if you donate, consign or list on eBay, you will likely get 5% – 10% of the value of your item, but on SwapLockers, you can trade it and get full value for something else that you really want!
Everyone gets an account and a ‘locker’ — a virtual, personal place with pictures of your stuff that you want to swap. Users post a picture into their locker and fill out a short description of the item, as well as an item value. They can then search for things they might want by category, by locker, or even by direction. When they find something they like, SwapLockers facilitates the negotiate for the swap and you ship your items to each other. Easy as that.
My children have really learned the value of things from using the site. Nothing is worthless. Even though it doesn’t fit you, it will have a value to somebody else.
Swaplockers user
A custom system to trade, swap, and barter
We helped the founders throughout the scope of the project — from initial strategy to design, development, testing and deployment. Our team built a custom framework to support thousands of users and the swapping mechanism, including a unique points system for product ‘pricing’, as well as a communications platform to support private deals between users ranging across the United States, from beginning to end.
Now live for over two years, SwapLockers has welcomed thousands of active swappers, who trade, barter and swap items from games and electronics, to collectibles, clothes, accessories, books and much, much more.
Hubbellville
Hubbell Power Systems
Hubbell Power Systems is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of infrastructure technologies in North America — with a catalog of products for cities big and small. We created Hubbellville, a fully 3d experience created in Unity, to demonstrate how many of Hubbell’s key technologies were used daily to help keep cities humming, all across America.
A whole new world
Hubbellville has revolutionized the way Hubbell Power Systems sales force showcases their most popular products. The Relish team created a 3d-modelled world that inspired reps to tell the story of Hubbell and what sets them apart. As leaders in their industry, Hubbell wanted to bring a bit of sexy to power generation.
Hubbellville allows sales reps and their purchasing engineer clients the opportunity to interact with 3d models of products that till now had only been available in flat catalogues. We also created several Augmented Reality experiences that helped bring a series of large scale posters to life!

Shortly after launching, we mapped out a revenue model that should see SecureHire turning a profit within the year. We also created the branding and marketing materials for the company.
Event IQ
Willis Collaborative
For a lot of big brands, events are big business. Trade shows and conferences provide a fantastic opportunity to reach out and meet existing and potential customers, but having a presence can be expensive and it can be tough to gauge the return on that investment. Event IQ gives companies the insight to understand how valuable an event is to them.
Companies who are at dozens – if not hundreds – of events around the world every year want a way to evaluate how much an event is worth. Event IQ lets them do that.
Cut through the noise
Event IQ is a simple web application that plugs into SalesForce to link event attendees to customer data. It lets companies understand how many people they know at an event, and even the monetary value of those relationships.
Relish worked with Willis Collaborative to develop Event IQ, including the app’s branding and identity.

We figure out the DNA of a successful person within a company within that role.

Relish Interactive is a founding partner of Dwellness and was responsible for the branding, marketing materials, mobile apps, and the underlying technology that powers the platform.
Factory Frenzy
YTV
Following the success of the first season of Some Assembly Required – not to mention the wild success of Knickknack, the online and mobile game for the show – Thunderbird and YTV wanted to ramp up the fun factor for season two. This time around, we worked to build a mini-game experience on YTV.com that would meet the growing demand for quick-play casual games.
Sure, you can play games, but can you keep the factory humming along incident-free?
A factory’s worth of games
Factory Frenzy challenged players to run the “P. Everett Knickknack Factory” on their own – unlocking games and levels as they progressed. Presented as a series of five mini-games inspired by the TV series – including one final ‘locked’ game – players try their hand at fun, short-burst games designed for high replayability.
Each game is based on a simple, fun mechanic and only takes about 1 minute to play and while they may seem easy, they’re definitely hard to master. If a player succeeds in a game, they move onto the next level. If they fail, they’re sent back to the start. After completing 20 levels in a row, players are given an overall ‘safety rating’ that represents how well they’re running the factory. If their rating is high enough, they’ll unlock a special fifth game!
